OPEN: While all this talk of climate change is happening in advance of the Copenhagen meeting, thereís also a public dustup among prominent climate change scientists, including one at Penn State University.

MALONGOWSKI: Computer hackers recently obtained and published documents from a British universityís computer server. Critics say the one-thousand e-mails and 3-thousand stolen documents proved scientists have overstated the extent of changing weather patterns. PSU Meteorology professor Michael Mann, whose e-mails were revealed, said he stands by his research.

Both Penn State and the University of East Anglia are investigating, and the director of the British center, the Climatic Research Unit, has stepped aside while the investigation continues.

Penn State told the Daily Collegian student newspaper that it's received many calls supporting the meteorological department.
